From Wedding Gallery to Highlight Wedding Album: How I Design Albums for My Couples

Your wedding day goes by in a blur, and your gallery gives you hundreds of thousands of photos to remember it all. But once your gallery is delivered, what happens to those photos? How often do you look at them? That’s where your Wedding Album comes!

The Highlight Album which comes standard with my wedding packages, which is an 8 inch by 8 inch wedding album with 10 spreads (20 pages) to highlight your wedding day. These Highlight Albums are pretty full of photos since 40-60 images are able to be designed over the pages. I prioritize the photos you’ve already told me are your favorites, then add in supplementary images to make everything feel cohesive and complete.

I typically design albums chronologically, moving through the day chapter-by-chapter: getting ready and details, the ceremony, family and wedding party photos, couples portraits, special dances, reception, and all the fun moments in between. The goal isn’t just to fill pages with beautiful photos. It’s to create something that brings you right back to how the day felt.

You’ll get to see how the photos work together to tell the story, how I decide what belongs where, and what the album design process looks with the final spreads!

Diana & Simon’s Wedding Album

Getting Ready & Setting the Scene for the Wedding Album

Diana & Simon’s wedding album stays traditional with a chronological set up. The beginning features images from them getting ready and the morning of. The second one is a more targeted spread which features emotional moments: first look with dad and the bridesmaids

Ceremony at The Queen of Angels Chapel

If Diana & Simon wanted to add more pages, I would definitely add a few “calmer” spreads here to showcase more of the ceremony story (more focus on the emotions of the parents and the guest’s involvement in mass). The ceremony was super important to them. This highlights some of the main moments (walking down the aisle with parents, first kiss, the rings, the eucharist, etc.) After this we did family photos… so that is the next spread!

Wedding Party & Newly Weds

This is always my favorite spreads! I love to feature a full spread when possible. The wedding party spread highlights the group in a classic light on the left side, then embraces silly and joyful candid images of the group.

Reception Formalities: Cake Cutting, First Dance, and Special Dances

One spread I dedicated to the couple and highlighted a few photos from when they cut their cake, and then a beautiful photo of the couple dancing on a cloud. The next one showed off the dances they had with their parents and family. Since I know the reception spread is next, I tried to limit and curate the images and not “over fill” the pages.

Reception: PARTY TIME

This spread I combined with the grand exit. I felt like the flow and party vibes were consistent. Diana & Simon hired DJ Franco and he BROUGHT THE ENERGY. They stayed on the the dance floor and were truly the life of the party!

FAQs about Wedding Albums

How do we pick the photos? Do we get to choose them?

I will do all the album design work for you, but this is you album and you always have final say. Once you get your full wedding gallery, I ask you heart your favorites whenever you are looking through them all. You ultimately just need to choose your cover option, review the pages, and let me know if there’s anything you’d like changed.

Can we get upgrade to more pages?

Absolutely! More pages mean more of a clean design AND more photos!

How many images can we use in our Album?

It ranges, but I the Highlight Albums can feature about 40-60 images. When designing, I try to not only feature the favorite and aesthetic images, but also photos of people. A full spread of family photos might not be NEEDED, but in years to come, I know those photos will become more important.
