They started dating in high school, but I discovered at the rehearsal dinner that Asher had a crush on Marcela way back in sixth grade! Their journey together has been nothing short of inspiring—they graduated high school side by side, went on to earn their undergraduate degrees at Texas A&M, and are now on the brink of becoming Registered Nurses, yet another milestone they are achieving together. Planning their wedding was the next exciting chapter in their shared adventure.
When it came to their wedding vibe, Marcela and Asher wanted something elegant. Marcela deliberated over color schemes, but the moment she saw the Brownstone, she knew it was the venue for them. The brickwork of the venue perfectly matched the aesthetic they were going for and could comfortably accommodate a large number of guests. They incorporated elements that showcased their journey as high school sweethearts, such as table numbers with photos of them through the years, adding a touch of elegance and nostalgia to their wedding.
I had the unique and wonderful honor of being both Marcela’s Maid of Honor and her photographer. To truly celebrate her, I enlisted a team of talented and knowledgeable photographers to help me capture her special day while also standing by her side. Katelyn and John were the perfect duo for this occasion! (Their websites are linked to their name, check them out!) As a photographer, it’s REALLY tough to put the camera down, but I managed to balance my roles by capturing key moments and using my film camera to create some of the sweetest memories from their day.
The entire day was filled with unforgettable moments, but two stand out in my mind. First, Marcela and Asher getting ready in separate bathrooms that were close enough for them to hear each other. They shared a little chat through the walls, which was such a charming and intimate moment. Second, Marcela’s father-daughter dance. I have never seen her father smile so big; it was heartwarming and had me in tears.
Marcela and Asher’s wedding day was a beautiful celebration of their enduring love story, and I am beyond grateful to have been a part of it in such a special way. Cheers to their next adventure together!
